Stay Salty, Make Waves, Surf Up
아트 리트리브 갤러리 여섯 번째 전시

여름이 다가오면 우리는 본능적으로 바다를 그리워합니다.
뜨거운 태양 아래서도 시원함을 주는 바닷바람, 끝없이 펼쳐진 수평선이 주는 해방감,
그리고 파도가 만들어내는 리듬감 있는 선율. 이 모든 것들이 우리를 바다로 이끕니다.

이번 전시 『Stay Salty, Make Waves, Surf Up』은 제주 바다와 사랑에 빠진 한 작가의 순수한 고백입니다.
케빈은 도시를 떠나 제주에 정착한 이후, 매일 마주하는 바다의 다채로운 모습들을 화폭에 담아왔습니다.
그의 작품 속 바다는 단순한 풍경이 아닙니다.
살아 숨 쉬는 생명체이자, 끊임없이 변화하는 감정의 거울이며, 우리 내면의 원시적 갈망을 일깨우는 존재입니다.

Stay Salty – 짠맛을 유지하라.
서핑 문화에서 유래된 이 표현은 자신만의 순수함과 진정성을 잃지 말라는 의미를 담고 있습니다.
케빈의 작품들은 제주 바다가 간직한 원초적 아름다움을 그대로 보여줍니다.
인위적인 장식이나 과장된 표현 없이, 바다 그 자체의 솔직한 모습을 화폭에 옮겨냅니다.

Make Waves – 파도를 일으켜라.
고요한 수면에 돌을 던지듯, 예술은 우리의 일상에 잔잔한 파문을 만듭니다.
케빈의 브러시 스트로크는 캔버스 위에서 실제 파도처럼 역동적으로 춤춥니다.
그의 작품을 마주하는 순간, 관람객들은 갤러리 공간을 넘어 제주의 해변으로 순간이동하게 됩니다.

Surf Up – 파도를 타라.
인생은 파도와 같습니다. 때로는 거세게, 때로는 부드럽게 우리에게 다가옵니다.
중요한 것은 그 파도를 두려워하지 않고 함께 흘러가는 것입니다.
케빈의 작품들은 바다의 변화무쌍함을 포용하며, 자연과 조화를 이루는 삶의 지혜를 전달합니다.

Art Retrieve Gallery’s Sixth Exhibition

As summer approaches, we instinctively yearn for the ocean.
The sea breeze that offers coolness even under the scorching sun,
the sense of liberation from endless horizons, and the rhythmic melody created by waves. All of these elements draw us to the sea.

This exhibition 『Stay Salty, Make Waves, Surf Up』 is a pure confession from an artist who has fallen in love with Jeju’s ocean.
Since Kevin left the city and settled in Jeju, he has been capturing the diverse faces of the sea he encounters daily on canvas.
The ocean in his works is not merely a landscape.
It is a living, breathing entity, a constantly changing mirror of emotions,
and a presence that awakens our inner primitive longing.

Stay Salty – Maintain the salt.
This expression, originating from surf culture, carries the meaning of not losing one’s purity and authenticity.
Kevin’s works reveal the primordial beauty that Jeju’s ocean holds.
Without artificial decoration or exaggerated expression,
he transfers the honest appearance of the sea itself onto canvas.

Make Waves – Create ripples.
Like throwing a stone into still water, art creates gentle ripples in our daily lives.
Kevin’s brush strokes dance dynamically on canvas like actual waves.
The moment viewers face his works, they are instantly transported beyond the gallery space to Jeju’s beaches.

Surf Up – Ride the waves.
Life is like waves. Sometimes fierce, sometimes gentle, they approach us.
What matters is not fearing those waves but flowing along with them.
Kevin’s works embrace the ocean’s ever-changing nature and convey the wisdom of living in harmony with nature.

This exhibition is not simply an arrangement of marine landscapes.
It is a record of deep conversations an artist has had with the ocean,
and a time to reawaken the reverence for nature that modern people have lost.
